The Gold Award in the Heavy Gauge, Pressure-Formed category in the SPE Thermoforming Conference Parts Competition went to SMI (San Diego, CA). The medical operating room canister uses Kydex-T material in 0.250-in. starting gauge.The customer wanted to reduce secondary operations and the total number of parts, and eliminate the need for mechanical fasteners.
