Tinius Olsen has developed a new line of electromechanical universal testing machines, bench and floor models. The ST Series feature frames with capacities up to 300kN of force, carefully applied by advanced digital control. The bench mounted ST series replace the S series and T series of testers from Tinius Olsen, and are available in capacities of 1kN (200lbf), 5kN (1,000 lbf), 10kN (2,000lbf), 25kN (5,000lbf), and 50kN (10,000lbf).

Tinius Olsen launches new line of electromechanical universal testing machines

Tinius Olsen has developed a new line of electromechanical universal testing machines, bench and floor models. The ST Series feature frames with capacities up to 300kN of force, carefully applied by advanced digital control. The bench mounted ST series replace the S series and T series of testers from Tinius Olsen, and are available in capacities of 1kN (200lbf), 5kN (1,000 lbf), 10kN (2,000lbf), 25kN (5,000lbf), and 50kN (10,000lbf). The company says that construction of machine frame, leadscrews, and drive system make them unique, offering excellent rigidity with negligible frame deflection. With the advanced digital control, load accuracy has been dramatically enhanced and should be better than 0.1% of the displayed reading within the operating range of 0.2% to 100% of the loadcell capacity, however, system accuracy is governed by relevant ASTM and ISO standards.

ST machines can test a wide range of materials, including, but not limited to: plastics, films, paper, packaging materials, filter material, adhesives, foils, food, toys, medical devices, and components, using tension, compression, flexure, shear, and peel procedures.

Control of ST machines is via a Bluetooth handheld interface or a virtual machine interface running on a connected PC. Tinius Olsen's Horizon software can be added to any system for accessing a library of standardized test routines, for generating a complete graphical result of a test, and for performing sophisticated powerful analyses on the test data to produce test reports.

Tinius Olsen offers a comprehensive selection of self-identifying loadcells, grips, and fixtures, extensometers, strain measurement instruments, temperature chambers, and many other accessories and add-ons.

The ST series also includes three, higher capacity, floor models: the 100ST (100kN), the 150ST (150kN) and the 300ST (300kN), which replace the U series of testers from Tinius Olsen. Their frame design allows the flexibility of a single test area for both tension and compression tests and with a lower bottom crosshead, compared to the older U series models, and makes loading heavier specimens easier. As with the smaller ST series, these machines feature columns that house a number of full length T-slots to keep the testing area as uncluttered and flexible as possible by allowing accessories to be anchored in these T-slots.
