Ultrasonic welder offers modularity, flexibility

The Omega III series is a redesigned line of ultrasonic welders that allows the user to place the generator and the controller in various positions on or around the welder. The line consists of three models: the MCA (the manufacturer?s most basic unit), the MCS (an intermediate model that now includes features previously only offered on the top-end machine), and the MCX (the most sophisticated welder, offering extensive control and optimum adjustment for complex applications). Several welding modes are available, including constant time, height, travel, and energy.

One of the most notable new features is an expanded reactive welding system, which supplies the exact amount of ultrasonic energy to finish the weld, regardless of dimensional variations in the part. Other features include simplified programming and machine adjustment, a larger working area around the application, a back-lit display screen, improved amplitude control, and an optical encoder.

Welding frequencies of 20 kHz and 30 kHz are available for the Omega III with power supplies ranging from 800 to 3000W. This new series will replace the manufacturer?s current Omega II series. The basic model starts at about $9000 (not including custom tooling).
