Vacuum loaders

Vacuum loaders--Wittmann's Nucon Systems Division introduced two new sizes in its 800 Series of vacuum loadersthe 805 0.15 cu-ft capacity unit and the 810 0.30 cu-ft capacity unit. They are designed for JIT loading or minimum throughput additive applications.

Other features include mild steel polished and chrome plate cone, cover and mounting flange; filtration via a 16 mesh stainless steel screen (for use in central filter systems); cast aluminum, air-actuated vacuum valve with solenoid and filter regulator; solid-state capacitance-type proximity switch for automatic 'on-demand' loading and Siemens PLC control with built-in display for adjustment of load times, dump time and proportional adjustment.

The company also announced that it is now offering Siemens' AS Interface and ASI controls as standard equipment on all of its materials handling systems. These systems use color-coded wiring with flat profile cables to eliminate confusion about which wire goes where and to prevent the wires from being installed upside-down or backwards.

The system uses 24 v dc components and individual modules do not require an auxiliary 110 v power supply. Nucon's VP of Operations, Rob Miller, says the system works the same way as a garden lighting system. When the module is assembled with the cable, steel points pierce the insulation of the cable, and the module is on line.

In addition, Miller says each loader module is a 'smart' component, so it recognizes the address of the closest module. "This allows for trouble-free equipment replacement, relocation or system expansion."

As for installation, electricians are not needed, nor are conduit, junction boxes and many conductors.
