Versatile, convertible weighing

Article-Versatile, convertible weighing

Equipped with its nickel-plated SLS410 load cells, new Model SWS310 tension weigh modules from Mettler-Toledo Inc. (Columbus, OH) can convert a suspended hopper or vessel into a scale. The mounting hardware reportedly is durable enough to withstand harsh environments while still providing safe support. And their clevis and rod assemblies can compensate for slight misalignments, ensuring accurate and repeatable weighing.

SWS310s are engineered for easy installation. Their tension weigh modules measure only vertical loads, while keeping the vessel stationary. And their zinc-plated carbon steel hardware is strong enough to ensure vessel support. SLS410s are mounted with a bonding strap, Teflon-lined bearings, and nylon washers that resist electrical damage. They also can be used to make electronic scales out of mechanical scales.—CK
