Vertical Chillers

In an agreement with Orion Machinery Co., Ltd. (Nagano, Japan), Semifab is now offering Orion fluid chillers to the North American plastics processing market. The company will be manufacturing these units in the U.S. in about six months.

These chillers are noted for their compact, vertical design. The unit shown above, The RKS-750-D, measures nearly 16 x 16 x 21 in.

There are 11 models available with water and air cooling capacities from 1/4 to 8-1/4 tons (0.6 to 43 kw). The RKS-750-D is a three-phase, air-cooled, water/glycol chiller with a capacity of 7500 Btu/hr. The cost of the system in single unit quantities is $1675.

The units currently use reciprocating type compressors, but Semifab's Mike Gorham says his company has been manufacturing equipment for several years with scroll type compressors.

"It is our intention to transition Orion equipment to the quieter, more efficient scroll compressor as we undertake the manufacturing of their chillers here in the United States."

Other features include front-mounted and 'user-friendly' microprocessor control panels, digital electronic thermostats with alarms. Safety features include compressor and pump motor protection circuits, refrigerant high-pressure cutout switch and pump over-current relay.
