Release 5.10 of ProHelp EPM software for real-time production and process monitoring utilizes the Internet to offer a Web-reporting option. This feature allows reports to be accessed via an approved Web browser supporting Java or ActiveX, such as Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape Navigator 4. All existing standard system reports in ProHelp EPM will continue to work with the system and will be available via the Web browser when using the Web-reporting option. A data conversion utility supports conversion of data from ProHelp Millennium and ProHelp 1000 to the ProHelp EPM format.
According to the developer, being able to execute and launch the ProHelp system using Java-based browsers not only saves the cost of IT maintenance, but also avoids additional software costs. Version 5.10 runs on Microsoft WindowsNT and SQL Server. The software package ranges from $12,000 to $23,000; the Web browser option costs $3500.
In a separate development, the manufacturer?s touch-screen machine interface has expanded its process information analysis capabilities. It now features profile graphing and overlay for 20 process parameters, real-time profile tracing, overlay of the last 10 machine cycles, area-under-the-curve analysis for user-selected areas, and high-resolution graphing.
