Wheel provides simultaneous drying of resin and desiccant

A new line of compact dryers from Nucon employs a continuous wheel that dries the regeneration and process resin simultaneously as opposed to traditional dual-tower dryers that alternate from tower to tower every 4 hours.

?With the new process, the wheel is always rotating in both the regeneration and process,? says Rob Miller, vp, operations, at Nucon. ?With dual towers, if you shut down the system, you have to cycle through the entire process once to reach the full dewpoint of -40C, while with our dryers you make a single pass and are ready to go again in 5 to 6 minutes.?

The dryers will be available in three sizes?500, 750, and 1000 cfm. Standard features such as a 250F maximum air temperature, Siemens operator interface, and a removable desiccant wheel cassette are also available. Additional features include closed loop drying and individual, electrically operated switchover valves for each desiccant bed. The compact design works for either a single machine or with two hoppers and two separate temperature controls.
