Wittmann adds blenders to portfolio via M-Tek

Article-Wittmann adds blenders to portfolio via M-Tek

A name change and a new business are in the works for auxiliaries supplier Witttmann (Vienna, Austria), which has rounded out its material handling offerings, adding blending with the acquisition of Mould-Tek (M-Tek; Scarborough, ON) and changing the name of its Canadian unit from Nucon Wittmann to Wittmann Canada. In addition to gravimetric blending that utilizes pinch-valve technology for precision, M-Tek, which was founded in 1962, also supplies material handling, dryers, and granulators—technologies that overlap with existing Wittmann products. Wittmann supplied blending equipment in North America through an exclusive agreement with Maguire (Aston, PA). No word yet from Wittmann on how that arrangement will be handled going forward.
Nucon Wittmann was created in 1999 with the acquisition by Wittmann of Nucon. Well known in Canada as a longstanding plastics equipment supplier, Nucon retained its name for brand-recognition purposes but will now be fully absorbed into the global Wittmann business in name, although there will be no changes to day-to-day operations. Wittmann also said it plans to integrate the M-Tek blenders into a single control platform, along with its existing drying and conveying products.—[email protected]
