Wittmann augments global auxiliaries presence

Global auxiliaries and automation supplier Wittmann continues to expand its global footprint, announcing during NPE plans to expand or open operations in Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Mexico, India, China, and the U.S. Speaking to trade press on the morning on June 21, General Manager Michael Wittmann, and North American President Dave Preusse, said the company now had 20 divisions and 800 employees, with 2005 revenue of $150 million.

The company will add 33,500-sq-ft to the Vienna headquarters, building on office and manufacturing space for material handling products. The company''s Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary plant, which is one hour from Vienna and opened in 1998, has grown to 62,800-sq-ft and will add laser cutting and machining.

Wittmann will also add 10,000 sq ft to its Swiss facility, and by the third quarter of this year, will have a plant in Chennai, India. In response to a 50% year-to-date increase in shipments, the company will add 8000 sq ft to its Queretaro, Mexico facility, and in the fourth quarter, it will build on 25,000 sq ft in Kunshan, China.

In the U.S., Preusse reported that the company has seen 24% shipment growth in 2005, with a 35% expansion thus far in 2006. The company just signed a lease on a 5800-sq-ft space in Lake Forest, CA, which it will use for spare parts inventory and service.
