Wood-Plastic Composite Conference will feature latest developments in WPC granulates

Wood flour and cellulosic fibers act as filler or reinforcement in plastics and lead to increased stiffness and strength as well as lower shrinkage and warpage. Moreover, their use leads to shortened cycle times. All this reportedly reduce production costs and the environmental footprint.

As a result, at the German Wood-Plastic Conference (Dec. 10-11; Cologne, Germany), nine experts from the U.S., Germany, China, Finland and Portugal will present their latest developments on WPC granulates. Most of the presented granulates are commercially available on the market and are used in several application fields such as furniture parts and consumer goods.

The event, "Wood and cellulose-filled plastic granulates for injection molding and extrusion," is designed for those in the plastics industry to get a "quick but comprehensive picture" on the characteristics of bio-based granulates in the market and their various options for application through injection molding and extrusion.

A comprehensive WPC exhibition is taking place alongside the conference. Around 30 exhibitors are expected this year, with more than 300 participants from over 20 countries, making the event the largest WPC exhibition in Europe. It will be sponsored, as in previous years, by Reifenhäuser Extrusion Technology GmbH & Co. KG
