Thirty-eight new plastics jobs are on the horizon for Plaskolite thanks to an $11.9-million investment in its Zanesville, OH–based facility, reports the Times Recorder.

Plaskolite expects to improve product output by 85% with the infusion of funds and personnel. Headquartered in Columbus, OH, Plaskolite employs more than 2,000 at 18 locations worldwide.

The employment expansion is supported by a tax credit through the Ohio Department of Development and the efforts of other Ohio organizations, including:

  • JobsOhio, which will help with recruitment and hiring through its Talent Acquisition Services Program;

  • Ohio Southeast Economic Development, which facilitated the assistance process;

  • The Incumbent Worker Training program through Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs, responsible for training employees on new equipment;

  • Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority, which will expand its rail transfer station to meet Plaskolite’s raw material transportation needs.

“This expansion marks an exciting new chapter for our Zanesville operations, which have been a vital part of Plaskolite’s success since 2000,” said Plaskolite President and CEO Michael Gilbert. “By increasing production capacity and creating new jobs, we reaffirm our commitment to this community and to delivering innovative thermoplastic solutions for our customers worldwide.” The plastics industry veteran was named CEO in April.

In November, Plaskolite said it will lay off 90 workers at its Massachusetts facility, Sheffield Plastics, between spring 2025 and spring 2026 as it prepares to close the plant. All 96 employees at the site were given the option of relocating to Ohio plants in Columbus or Zanesville, the company said.
