An ASA/PA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate/polyamide) blend has found its way into an insert employed the center console in Renault's new Zoe electric vehicle. Terblend S NM-31 from Styrolution (Frankfurt, Germany) features superior UV stability, which makes the pre-colored material particularly suited for light-colored interior parts.
The Zoe, Renault's forthcoming electric model, is the first vehicle to feature Styrolution's new ASA/PA blend. The insert of the center console is made from this new pre-colored material. |
These features make Terblend S NM-31 an ideal material for dashboard components and other interior trim applications in vehicle cockpits using new light-color trends. The material retains the inherent features of the supplier's Terblend N product family (ABS/PA), namely good flow characteristics, a pleasant tactile feel, high sound absorption, enhanced impact strength and excellent chemical resistance.
Styrolution also recently introduced Luran S SPF30 - an ASA featuring new UV stabilization technology, which results in major improvement in color fastness and surface quality for pre-colored exterior applications. Gloss and color are retained for considerably longer than in previous grades, and significantly less graying and yellowing are apparent when the surface is exposed to light. This means higher surface quality, thereby creating higher value for exterior applications such as front grills, mirror housings, spoilers and various car body parts.
Styrolution also recently unveiled its latest high-gloss plastic application for jet black applications for car interiors and exteriors. Luran HH 120 Piano Black is a modified SAN (styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer) that combines the benefits of a classic SAN with improved temperature (HH: high heat) and weathering resistance. Compared with other plastics such as acrylic, Luran HH 120 offers a higher heat deflection temperature with a Vicat value (softening temperature) of 120°C. It is also chemical resistant, stiff and offers scratch resistance comparable to acrylic, making it suitable for various exterior vehicle applications such as A, B, C pillar covers, mirror housings and exterior or interior decorative trim.-[email protected]
