Prestige Mold invests $1.5M in facility, equipment, automation

Prestige Mold Inc. (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) invested more than $1.5 million in 2010 to reconfigure and remodel its production area to accommodate new machinery and equipment, and improve workflow. The company occupies a stand-alone 30,000-ft² building and employs 65.

Equipment additions include:
•    Makino V33i hard-milling machine with 40,000-rpm spindle
•    Mori Seiki lathe with live tooling package and LNS Bar feeder
•    Foba G5-LP100 laser engraving machine
•    Workcell consisting of two Okamoto CNC surface grinders fed with a Fanuc six-axis robot

Prestige Mold now has a total of 17 automated machines in eight automated robotic workcells. The company provides a range of services including part design assistance to ensure manufacturability, preproduction tooling, production tooling, and in-house mold sampling.

“Prestige Mold has been serving the medical device industry for over 20 years, and [that segment] represents approximately 85% of our business,” comments Donna Pursell, CEO of Prestige. “We partner with many of the world’s leading medical companies, working with OEMs on multimold programs to meet their global requirements.”

Within the medical industry, Prestige has manufactured a variety of devices, including those for infusion and drug delivery, labware, specimen management, diagnostics, and surgical products.
