Extrusion: PTFE coating for medical tubes

PTFE coatings imparts lubricity and kink resistance to medical tubes.

A new service coats kink-resistant nitinol tubes and stainless steel tubes for medical devices with the fluoropolymer PTFE. The highly lubricious coatings maintain kink resistance and can be processed in sizes from 0.002-inch outer diameter up and lengths to 10 ft. The PTFE coating, which is available in green, grey, blue and black, has a tolerance from .0001 to .0003 inch. Market bands can be incorporated and the service is available for all hypotube variations including spiral, skived, flared, crimped, ground, and slotted types. Applied Plastics Co.
