An all-electric injection molding machine will shoot thin-wall lids at NPE 2012 for a newly developed ice cream container. This e-motion 740H/310W/200 T combi machine from injection molding machine and automation supplier Engel, will be used in conjunction with a two-component injection molding process and in-mold labeling.

In addition, the Engel packaging business unit will also display its all-electric e-cap injection-molding machine. According to the company, the e-cap 3440/460 US is energy efficient with low cooling water requirements, and includes features such as a "premium" quality injection unit, increased ejector force, and a reinforced clamping drive.

The e-cap has a cycle time of less than 3 seconds, and injection speeds of 450 mm per second.

"All-electric injection molding machines are constantly gaining in importance, above all in the field of high performance and high speed applications," stated Walter Jungwirth, head of Engel business unit packaging, in a news release.
