Compactor processes recycled PET flakesCompactor processes recycled PET flakes
January 1, 2003
The Plastcompactor recycles PET bottles into flakes that comply with FDA regulations. The material must be crystallized and the flakes transformed into a floating material with a high bulk density. The Plastcompactor slightly sinters the material between two compacting disks, with only a small loss of viscosity. The washed flakes are conveyed into the compacting chamber with a feeding screw. The material does not reach the melting point, yielding the required crystallization.
Units have a throughput rate of 200 to 1000 kg/hour. A typical model is the HV 50, with 110-kW drive and throughput of approximately 800 kg/hr, if the material is A-PET or PET-G.
