Archer Daniels Midland to collaborate with PolyOne on bio-based plasticizers

With a goal of developing and commercializing bio-based plasticizers from corn and oilseeds, Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM, Decatur, IL; www.admworld.com) and PolyOne Corp. (Avon Lake, OH; www.polyone.com) have made a collaboration agreement. The global plasticizer market is an $11 billion industry composed mostly of petroleum-based products, and ADM has more than 240 processing plants to convert corn and oilseeds into products for chemical uses.
