Chinaplas: Davis-Standard brings dsX s-tretch line for cast film to the Asian market

"This machine offers the opportunity to increase the efficiency versus older technology and lines," Murphy said. "Stretch film continues to grow faster than market averages as customers and the supply chain realizes the benefits of using cast film to protect the product during transit and minimize the loss from damaged goods during the supply chain."

This Chinaplas marks nearly two years since Davis-Standard opened the company's manufacturing facility in Suzhou, its first in China. The 4300 sq m (46,000 sq ft) facility features sales, technical support, equipment production and aftermarket services. The company recently introduced the addition of a spare parts and service center in this facility. The center specializes in the delivery of high usage maintenance items to support its customers throughout Asia.

About 30% of the company's business is in Asia, with 14% of sales from the packaging market.

In addition to the dsX s-tretch line, the company will also showcase its dsX flex-pack extrusion coating line and dsX med-tube medical tubing system.

Murphy said that medical tubing and devices is a fast growing area in Asia, particularly in China. The dsX med-tube has seen strong growth over the past few years and Murphy said they expect that growth to continue.
