Plastics Industry Association names association veteran to lead government affairs

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS; Washington, DC) has named Scott DeFife Vice President of Government Affairs. DeFife will lead federal, state and regulatory affairs, oversee advocacy and serve as the staff liaison to the Public Policy Committee, the association announced in a press release.

Prior to this appointment, DeFife led policy and government affairs for the National Restaurant Association and was Senior Managing Director at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, where he managed federal and state legislative and lobbying efforts. He has also been an advisor to various politicians, notably former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), where he focused on financial services, tax, economic and energy issues.

DeFife’s “impressive experience in the association industry and on the hill makes him uniquely positioned to lead our Government Affairs team and help the plastics industry in achieving our goals of producing innovative and safe products, sustainably managing materials and ensuring a safe environment for our workforce,” said PLASTICS’ Executive Vice President Patty Long in a prepared statement.
