D-M-E is exclusive source for Elmet cold runners in North America

As it was opening its display at the Plastec West show in Anaheim on February 9, mold technologies supplier D-M-E (Madison Heights, MI) announced a new partnership with Austria-based Elmet under which D-M-E will be the exclusive North American source for Elmet's well-established cold runner systems for LSR molding.

D-M-E says the partnership will benefit the growing North American liquid silicone rubber (LSR) sector by combining Elmet's standardized cold runner product line with D-M-E's experienced service team and distribution network. Mike Kreitner, business manager for emergent technologies at D-M-E, said, "As an essential resource to customers currently in LSR and those looking to break into the new market, DME is determined to offer the best in quality and precision cold runner systems, and we're doing that now though Elmet."

"DME has really taken the lead in North America toward educating customers on ways to improve their elastomer processing," said Daniel Schölmberger, Elmet sales & marketing manager for the Americas, who was present at the Plastec West show. "They are the ideal partner to take our advanced cold runner technologies to market and we look forward to working together to expand the North American market for standardized cold runner technologies even further."

Elmet's valve-gate cold runner system controls valve-gate nozzles with electrical motors installed directly on each nozzle to separately optimize filling of each cavity, enhance the overall process window, and enable injecting parts of differering volumes in the same mold. A standard Elmet cold runner system features precision guiding surfaces to extend the life of seals and movable parts, and facilitates service using a changeable nozzle insert that allows tip replacement without exchanging the whole nozzle-cooling body.
