After seven months of construction, extrusion equipment supplier Davis-Standard (Pawcatuck, CT) has moved into its new manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China, with building nearly complete on the inside of the structure. The new 4300 sq m (46,000 sq ft) facility will feature sales, technical support, equipment production, aftermarket, and service, as well as research and development equipment for customer trials.

Davis-Standard opens Suzhou operations ahead of schedule

Fred Pereira will act as president of Asia for Davis-Standard, having been named to that position in April. Pereira has more than 30 years of business experience throughout Asia, working in various segments of the plastics industry including chemical and engineered materials, specialty additives, packaging, product development and manufacturing.Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager of the Global Fleet and Architecture division of Avery Dennison. Davis-Standard said it also plans to establish a procurement and manufacturing team in the region that will report to Pereira.

The Suzhou operation is Davis-Standard's fourth manufacturing facility, with existing production sites and subsidiaries in the U.S., Germany, and the U.K. The company also has sales or representative offices in France, Russia, and the Philippines. The company has estimated annual revenue of $300 million, with 900 employees worldwide.
