Equipped with diagnostic systems engineered to provide protection from both errors in the wiring of connecting cables and hot runners, and failures in heater and sensor components, two new runnerless system controls—the Temp-command Series and the HRD Series—have been introduced by PSG Plastic Service Group Inc. (Stevensville, MI).

Temp-command controls can be delivered prewired for fast startups, or they can either be directly mounted in your molding machine or supplied in a special housing capable of controlling up to 256 zones. HRD Series controls are available in versions with six to 30 control zones, and arrive prepackaged in a compact table housing.

Both come equipped with many standard features and user-friendly functions, according to the company. Easy-to-use touch screens are Temp-Command Series standards. They’re optional on the HRD Series, which have standard keypad controls.

Rich Oles, PSG’s North American president, says, “The mold-check function that’s included in both controls acts as a protective barrier surrounding a user’s hot runner system and fulfills every requirement for system diagnostics. The touch screen on the Temp-Command Series has an image control feature, which allows the user to take any digital image and assign a heat zone to control a specific part of the image. It helps to take the guesswork out of which part that specific zone affects when a temperature is changed.”

Both new systems are engineered for easy servicing, thanks to their modular construction. And the capabilities of both can be expanded through built-in compatibility with Profibus-DP, Ethernet, CAN, and RS-485 communication options.
