A few of our favorite things from MD&M East and PLASTEC East: Stratasys
Maker of 3D printing systems Stratasys (Eden Prairie, MN) went old school—at least from an additive manufacturing perspective—at MD&M East/PLASTEC East by putting a Boy XS injection molding machine front and center in its booth. The purpose was to demonstrate the potential of 3D-printed injection molding services for the medical market that it has developed with design bureau Worrell (Minneapolis, MN).

The Boy machine was running a mold 3D printed from digital ABS and producing a sample part in high-density polyethylene. Nothing fancy, just a demo designed to illustrate a simple but effective value proposition: The technology allows manufacturers to produce a mold and start molding parts in just one or two days.
