AMBA announces 2018 mold builder and tooling trailblazer awards

The American Mold Builders Association (AMBA; Indianapolis, IN) presented its 2018 Mold Builder of the Year award to Mark Slack of Roush Global Tooling (Farmington, MI). Recognized as an industry visionary and leader, Slack was instrumental in leveraging the company’s core mold-building business into the direct-to-OEM market and further expanding its reach on the global playing field.

Passionate about mold building, Slack was on the advisory committee for the Skilled Trades Program at Schoolcraft Community College; was influential in starting the S.E. Michigan Chapter of AMBA; and advocates for community involvement through association participation in AMBA, the Original Equipment Suppliers Association and the National Tooling and Machining Association.

The Tooling Trailblazer of the Year award, established to recognize AMBA member accomplishments that have resulted in a notable impact in the area of education, was presented to MSI Mold Builders (Cedar Rapids, IA). MSI Mold Builders was recognized for its recruitment efforts and work with local community colleges and high schools. From job shadowing, plant tours and scholarships to participation on advanced manufacturing advisory boards and foundations, MSI works throughout the year to increase visibility of the mold manufacturing industry to hundreds of students, parents and teachers in the greater Cedar Rapids area.
