Asaclean gives molders and extruders choice of chemical and mechanical purging products

Following its acquisition of Novachem in June of last year, Sun Plastech Inc. (Parsipanny, NJ) has complemented its line of Asaclean mechanical purging compounds for thermoplastic injection molders and extruders with chemical compounds. The N Series heat-activated purging materials are suited for a range of plastics manufacturing applications, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and extrusion blown film.

A noted benefit of chemical purging compounds is their rapid foaming action when activated by heat, says the company. The chemical compounds scour difficult-to-access nooks and crannies in machines where thorough purges between runs are required. Another advantage is its particle size: In its melted state, N Series chemical purges are sub-micron, making for quick, easy displacement with a supplementary carrier resin.

Various grades are available from versatile compounds suited for conventional color and material changes to compounds designed for high-temperature resins.

A range of traditional mechanical purging compounds are also available.
