Recently, Husky Injection Molding Systems and the National Association for PET Container Resources (Napcor; Florence, KY) partnered up to host a one-day event at Husky's global headquarters in Bolton, Ontario, Canada. The event was held during the first day of Napcor’s summer membership meeting with more than 50 business leaders in attendance. The day consisted of presentations, discussions and networking opportunities where attendees were given access to Husky's facilities, labs and technology development programs where they got to see first-hand how the company is committed to developing PET preform injection molding solutions that improve quality and provide the most value to customers.

"Husky has always had a vested interest in promoting innovation and pushing the industry forward. Our relationship with NAPCOR provides us with invaluable insight that we apply to developing state-of-the-art technology for the beginning of the PET packaging supply chain, while allowing us to be mindful of how our technologies impact the end of that supply chain."

Carol Hochu, President and CEO of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association, delivered a presentation discussing Canadian plastics and sustainability. Also presenting was Pieterjan Van Uytvanck from The PCI Consulting Group, Xylenes and Polyesters, on the topic of Sustainability in the Polyester Value Chain and the Impact of Raw Materials. In addition, a key presentation by Husky covered the topic of PET Packaging Trends. Napcor representatives closed the day by presenting Husky with an Appreciation Award for the company's ongoing support of the PET industry.

"We were extremely happy with how the day turned out and appreciate Husky opening their doors to host this event," said Tom Busard, Napcor Chairman and Chief Procurement Officer for Plastipak Packaging. "Our goal as an organization is to work collaboratively with all of our members. Husky's experience in PET has given them exposure to the largest base of PET customers in North America. Our relationship with members like Husky provides us with insight into current and future packaging design trends driven by their customers and consumers, as well as an understanding of how these trends could impact the PET industry in the future."
