As businesses struggle with the COVID recession, few employees are expecting a raise, let alone a bonus, this year . . . except at Mack Group. The injection molding and contract manufacturing company is celebrating its 100th anniversary by distributing $15 million worth of bonuses to workers in all of its US plants. President and CEO Don Kendall announced the good news on Oct. 16, 2020. The size of the bonuses varies by length of employment and ranges from $5,000 to $15,000. A privately-held corporation, Mack was founded in 1920 in Little Falls, NJ, and is headquartered today in Arlington, VT.
Mack has been setting aside money for the last 25 years to fund this bonus, said the company. Twenty-five years ago, Mack flew all of its employees and their families to Walt Disney World in Florida for a four-day trip to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary. Because of COVID-19, a trip of any kind became impossible this year. The bonuses are a way of thanking its co-workers for their contribution to the company’s success, said Mack.
“Mack co-workers have gone the extra mile for Mack; it is now Mack’s turn to go the extra mile for its people,” Kendall said.
Today, Mack Group operates 11 locations throughout Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Mexico. Its plants comprise a total of 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space. The company provides product design and development, prototyping, injection molding, finishing, machining, and contract manufacturing for a range of markets, including the medical, industrial, transportation, computer and business equipment, and consumer goods sectors.
