Molded Devices Inc. (MDI; Tempe, AZ), a full-service custom injection molder with facilities across North America, announced the acquisition of Hamar/GIC (Piedras Negras, Mexico), located approximately 200 miles south of San Antonio, TX.
Hamar/GIC currently serves numerous Fortune 100 customers in that region of Mexico with value-add assembly services. Plans call for Hamar/GIC to expand its capabilities into blowmolding and injection molding in the near term.
The Hamar/GIC operations will continue to be led by Gabriel Bustamante, who holds an engineering degree from Texas A&M University and has overseen the success of Hamar/GIC for more than 20 years, said MDI.
“MDI ’s intent behind the acquisition of Hamar/GIC is to grow our midwest footprint with U.S. original equipment manufacturers wishing to capitalize on the molding and low-cost assembly services the Hamar/GIC plant offers,” commented Brian Anderson, CEO of MDI.
