This mold monitor is much more than a cycle counter

At the K 2010 Show in Germany, Progressive Components, a global supplier of components for the production tooling industry, introduced an addition to its CounterView line: the CVe Monitor. It monitors more than just mold cycles completed, gathering a variety of specific data, such as cycle time over the life of the tool and cycle time over the last 25,000 cycles. It also provides the percentage of activity versus downtime, downtime date ranges, and increments where mold maintenance was performed.

Users can view the data either directly off the CVe or by downloading the data via mini USB port in order to drive comprehensive reporting. “Being able to monitor mold activity allows focused efforts to be directed towards improvement in the mold’s cycle times and maintenance actions,” said John Wakefield, managing director of Progressive Components Europe. “More than just counting cycles, the CVe enables an accurate assessment of one’s tooling investment.

The new CVe fits into the same pocket as Progressive’s CounterView100/200 series, making it easy to retrofit it onto tooling already in production.

Glenn Starkey, president of Progressive Components, said that the company is developing more products to expand its offerings. “We’re trying to work our way up the value chain by more product development and to provide data for quality parts that’s plug and play,” said Starkey. —[email protected]
