The creation of Danish designer Henrik Thor-Larsen, the Ovalia Egg chair was an immediate sensation when it was exhibited at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in 1968. The shiny white shell is made of glass fiber–reinforced polyester.

It was inspired by the original Egg chair designed by fellow Dane Arne Jacobsen, which was introduced in 1958. He was the first to use a foam inner shell under the upholstery to give the chair its unique shape.
