A second-generation Internet-based materials information website, called Prospector Web, has been developed to allow users to conduct thorough searches of worldwide resin information quickly, anytime. Prospector Web, at PrWeb. idesinc.com, provides access to a database of more than 30,000 plastic materials from worldwide resin producers.

ASTM and ISO materials information is available from producers in North America, South America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim. A new user interface allows users to quickly choose from more than 200 characteristics. The user simply enters search values and chooses the unit system to search, and a data table will show materials and property results in either English or SI units.

The database also provides manufacturer contact information for more than 300 suppliers to allow the user to request samples or obtain technical assistance. IDES licenses access to Prospector Web for single or multiple users. A one-year subscription ranges from $950 for a single user to $760/user for five to nine users. For 10 or more, contact IDES.
