Additives provide improved form

Offering its new additive masterbatch in pellet form, Clariant has developed the Cesa line of antioxidants, antistats, UV stabilizers, flame retardants, and antiblock, antislip, and antifog agents. The pellets are designed to simplify handling of active chemical ingredients, and may be added at the press using conventional blending and metering equipment. Standard and custom formulations are available. The masterbatches can be combined with a number of base resins, including styrenics, polyolefins, and polypropylene (antistat); polyethylene, polypropylene, and other polyolefins (UV stabilizer); and HDPE, polypropylene, and other polyolefins (flame retardant).

Clariant has also recently made available two new series of chemical foaming agent (CFA) masterbatches for polyolefins and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins. Designed to decrease weight and density in a part by increasing gas yield, Hydrocerol 1216 is a highly loaded endothermic CFA for use in polyolefin structural foam molding applications. Gas yields of 90 to 95 cu cm/g have been produced, which helps reduce the amount of base resin required. Hydrocerol 1210 and CT 1212 are exo-endothermic CFAs that provide uniform cell structure and even distribution in PVC applications. As a result, the part?s structural integrity is improved since large voids are reduced.
