S&E introduces new family of universal TPE compounds
August 21, 2016
S&E Specialty Polymers (Lunenburg, MA) announced the launch of a new family of universal TPE compounds, which come under the company’s TufFlex, TufFill and TufPrene brands. These compounds are specifically designed to survive the harshest environments for wire and cable industry applications, said the company.
These new compounds represent S&E’s continued emphasis on R&D, a commitment by the company to work closely with its customers to provide unique compound formulations that exceed the performance characteristics of traditional materials, said the company.
The compounds are a hybrid between TPE-TPO-CPE alloys, combining and highlighting the best property of each component. These compounds do not just match the properties of engineering elastomers, but add some unique attributes.
“We are excited about the possibilities these new compounds bring to the wire and cable industry,” said Duane Shooltz, President and Managing Partner at S&E. “Our customers continue to challenge us with requests for alternative materials that can survive the most difficult operating environments, and we continue to produce new and innovative materials to meet and exceed their needs.”
In other new, S&E’s TufFill 15-058, one of the new TPE compounds, has been approved for use by a leading U.S. city’s transit authority. The non-halogen material is used in subways and underground tunnels for a wire and cable jacketing application.
S&E Specialty Polymers is a premier specialty plastic compounder serving the automotive, wire and cable, battery/stored energy, consumer and footwear markets.
