Husky Releases Wear-Resistant Nozzle for Micro-Molding Applications

Pitch spacing down to 15 mm in the Ultra Helix 250 T2 nozzle supports high cavitation density and small mold footprints.

Micro-molding has become a big business for many injection molding companies for a variety of applications across a range of markets. To meet the needs of micro-molding processors, Husky Injection Molding Systems has introduced the newest addition to its Ultra Helix Valve Gate nozzle lineup, the Ultra Helix 250 T2.

The Ultra Helix 250 T2 nozzle is designed with longevity and gate quality in mind. The 12-mm bore allows for direct gating in unreachable locations for larger nozzles. The device is available with individual pneumatic and UltraSync actuations. Pitch spacing down to 15 mm supports high cavitation density and small mold footprints, said Husky, adding that the extended maintenance interval for leakage-prone resins provides additional customer value.

Global customers of Bolton, ON–based Husky are already taking advantage of the Ultra Helix 250 T2’s performance to make precision parts for medical barrier closures, flow regulation valves, and food and beverage packaging and flip-top closures. Designed for applications involving leakage-prone resins, the nozzle is being used to produce parts ranging in weight from less than 0.1 to more than 4 grams. Materials processed include PP, HDPE, LDPE, TPE, and TPV in both single injection and multi-material applications.

The addition of a stem seal paired with enhanced thermal management heater technology improves performance and significantly optimizes maintenance requirements. This results in lower risk and cost of ownership, according to Husky.

The Ultra Helix 250 T2 was recognized at the 2020 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards in the Mold and Component category. Products submitted to the competition are evaluated based on their technological innovation or support of new business opportunities. The winners are selected by professionals from industry associations and scientific research institutions.
