Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) Minneapolis, the Midwest's largest medical technology event, co-located with PLASTEC Minneapolis, will host a robust conference featuring technical sessions, case studies and panel discussions on the trends and topics that are affecting the industry today. The event takes place November 8 and 9 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Celebrated cardiologist and best-selling author Eric Topol will deliver the keynote on Nov. 8.
"Staying ahead of the curve in regards to industry trends and knowledge is of the upmost importance to us and we plan to bring the latest and greatest in medical technology to the Midwest at MD&M Minneapolis," said Nina Brown, Vice President, Events at UBM. "This year we are excited to focus on showcasing all stages of the product development process, from research to market. We hope that this will provide invaluable information to our attendees."
Centered on new technologies and product development processes, the conference will be an important resource for those looking to create successful medical devices, conquer product development challenges and speed new devices to market. The conference is organized into three concentrated tracks:
Track A—Product Development is focused on creating medical devices and getting them to market faster and less expensively.
Track B—R&D and User-Centered Design explores the science behind R&D, materials and design. Speakers and panelists will share insights on unlocking innovation.
Track C—Hands-On Workshop offers hands-on learning opportunities.
All three conference tracks feature presentations and panels led by industry thought leaders from organizations such as Boston Scientific, the Mayo Clinic, Olympus and more.
New to 2017 is the highly anticipated plenary session, focused on how to sell an idea to upper management. Moderated by Kevin Arnal, owner of Beachfront Design, the panel will include Ralph Cardinal, Director, R&D, Boston Scientific; Jennifer Raeder-Devens, Vice President, R&D, Infection Prevention, Becton Dickinson; and Matt Adams, Vice President and General Manager, Minnetronix Neuro.
This year’s keynote speaker is celebrated cardiologist and best-selling author Eric Topol. A professor of genomics at the Scripps Research Institute, Topol’s principal scientific focus has been on the use of genomic and digital tools to drive the future of individualized medicine. He was voted the most influential physician in the United States in a national poll conducted by Modern Healthcare. The keynote presentation is scheduled for noon on Nov. 8.
