A contract manufacturer with expertise in plastic and metal machining and injection molding that serves medical device OEMs, Eptam Precision Solutions has acquired Mendell Machine and Manufacturing. Mendell is a medical component manufacturer located in Lakeville, MN, that specializes in precision CNC micro-machining of implantable devices. Eptam is a Frazier Healthcare Partners portfolio company based in Northfield, NH.

The transaction will allow the companies to combine complementary capabilities, providing customers a one-stop shop for orthopedic, cardiovascular, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic-assisted surgery components, according to the press release.

Founded in 1981, Eptam manufactures medical devices, implants, single-use medical disposable devices, and other precision components on a contract basis. Value-added services include process validation, design-for-assembly, cleanroom assembly, and technical program management. Eptam has more than 450 employees with operations in New Hampshire, Colorado, and New Jersey.

Eptam said that the acquisition expands and diversifies its portfolio of capabilities, offering customers a single partner of choice for high-precision metals and plastics manufacturing requirements.

“By welcoming the professionals from Mendell to our team, Eptam adds world-class micro-machining and automation expertise, while also expanding our implant manufacturing offering and benefiting from Mendell’s proximity to many of the leading OEMs located in the greater Minneapolis metro area,” said Eptam CEO Mark Kemp.

Bryan Bartz, CEO of Mendell, added: “We are excited to partner with Eptam to increase our reach and enhance the capabilities and services we offer to our customers. We will continue to provide the same quality and service to our customers with the added benefit of leveraging Eptam’s capabilities, footprint, industry expertise, and customer relationships.”

In addition to medical, Eptam provides custom machining services to the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries.
