More preform demand leads to new production tech, new facility

Located in Swanton, OH, seven miles from its previous 7500-ft2 manufacturing plant, the new Preform Technologies 40,000 ft2 facility is expected to be in full operation by August 31, 2010. In addition to the new extrusion blow molding system, the new facility will also contain three preform injection molding systems, one of which is also being added new. The much-increased square footage means that production and warehousing can how be housed under one roof.

Preform Technologies prides itself on its ability to make innovative and technically challenging but smaller volume PET preforms for food and personal care applications, supported by in-house engineering, quick mold changing, and custom resin blending. The company maintains a large library of preform choices and the extrusion blow molding capability will enlarge its ability to provide niche-market packages.

Parent company Plastics Technologies offers preform and package design, package development, tooling design and production, rapid prototyping, pre-production prototyping, and materials evaluation. Its other brands include PTI Recycling, PTI-Europe, Minus9 Plastics, and Phoenix Technologies International.
