At Pack Expo Las Vegas, Clear Lam Packaging Inc. (Elk Grove, IL) and Triangle Package Machinery Co. (Chicago) unveiled the new Triangle PrimaPak Continuous Motion Vertical Bagging Machine (Model XYT15) designed for food and consumer packaged goods products. The Vertical Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) Bagger features a proprietary PrimaPak System Interface which produces the industry’s first ever flexible, stackable, reclosable package designed to replace rigid cans, bottles, jars, trays and dysfunctional stand-up pouches.
The advanced packaging system was developed to eliminate excessive packaging waste from the supply chain as sustainable packaging is becoming more important for consumer packaged goods manufacturers. The PrimaPak package, which is produced from flexible rollstock, uses up to 70% less plastics compared to Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) cans, bottles, jar or trays, translating into less weight and cost and fuel savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The VFFS Bagger operates at quicker operating speeds up to 100 bags per minute, depending on the package size. Also, the Model XYT15 can provide up to seven different types of opening and closing designs depending on the application making it very consumer-friendly in that the packaging is easy to handle and use, portable and easy to open and reseal. The opening and closing elements are incorporated into the PrimaPak rollstock.
“Smarter and more efficient packaging is a big trend in the U.S., in particular, as consumer demand increases for single-serve, multi-pack and portion-control packaging that is easy to use and dispose,” said James Sanfilippo, Chief Executive Officer, Clear Lam Packaging Inc.
Sanfiippo goes on to say how consumers today want frustration-free packaging with customized options meeting their lifestyles. The Triangle PrimaPak bagging machine gives processors flexibility and seamless operation to produce packaging in several different sizes and shapes for a wide variety of product markets. Applications include confectionary and snack products, cereal, coffee detergent pods, pet food and cheese and produce.
“Next-generation bagging equipment must meet processors’ need for cost-effective, agile manufacturing and produce sustainable packaging consumers can feel good about,” said Bryan Muskat, President, Triangle Package Machinery. “Our new bagging machine takes a holistic view of the packaging supply chain, providing creative solutions so that the manufacturers can minimize the materials they use, maximize cube efficiency, and provide buyers with an attractive package.”
Just last month, PlasticsToday published an article on the recent North American equipment manufacturing licensing agreement giving Triangle a license to manufacture and supply the PrimaPak interface on its VFFS Bagging Machine.
