Dow expands product range with new Innate packaging resins

Dow Chemical Co. (Midland, MI) has launched Innate Precision Packaging Resins, a new range of resins designed to help customers tackle what Dow calls some of today’s most challenging packaging performance gaps. This is the first time the Company has released a major product since Intune—a polypropylene-based olefin block copolymer which was launched at the K 2013 trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany.

DowPackaging.pngDeveloped from a proprietary molecular catalyst partnered with advanced process technology, Innate linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resins allow customers to tap into new packaging opportunities through unmatched stiffness-toughness balance, processing ease and improved sustainability profiles.

“Innate resins were developed as a result of many discussions with converters and brand owners and careful analysis of the market trends,” said Diego Donoso, Business President for Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics.

“We’re excited about what Innate will enable in future packaging design.”

David Parrillo, Global R&D Director for Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics added, “The chemistry behind Innate resins allows customers to control properties like never before to create a new standard of performance through a combination of film stiffness, toughness and processability, all from one packaging resin.”

Applications for the LLDPE resins include flexible food packaging to heavy-duty industrial shipping sacks. The range of resins offers lightweighting options for customers leaning towards sustainable packaging.

“Innate Precision Packaging Resins were born from a breakthrough, patented catalyst and process technology and gives brand owners, retailers and converters what they’re demanding: the ability to create precision combinations that deliver high performing food, consumer and industrial packages,” said Nestor de Mattos, Marketing Director for Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. “Innate is a real star in packaging resin technology.”
