Thomas Bernhardt named new CEO at Sukano

Swiss masterbatch producer Sukano announced that the search for a new CEO is over. The Board of Directors of Sukano AG has unanimously elected Thomas Bernhardt as the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management, effective October 1, 2015.

Thomas Bernhardt named new CEO at Sukano

Mr. Bernhardt is taking over from Wolfgang Schadt, who served as interim CEO during the search to fill the position after the departure of the previous CEO, Michael de Braaf in June of this year.

BERNHARD-3.jpgThomas Bernhardt, who will also act as Head of Sales of Sukano AG, is described by the company in the announcement of his appointment  as “a very experienced Masterbatch personality with high leadership skills.” Most recently, he worked for Archroma in Singapore. Before assuming that role was employed in a number of senior management positions at Hoechst and Clariant.

“The company will be in good hands with Bernhardt at the helm, he brings a depth of business experience,” commented Martin Schmutz, President of the Board of Directors of Sukano AG.

Sukano specializes in the development and production of functional and optical masterbatches, special compounds and blends for improving the properties of bio- and oil- based plastics for the plastics manufacturing industry. The company says that under the new leadership, it will continue to build on its strong brand, with a focus on “being close to customers” and to deliver its products and services “with even more speed and flexibility and in response to their individual requirements.”

Sukano operates production sites in Switzerland, the U.S. and in Malaysia and distributor network that spans the globe.
