Up to 128 different codes, even mixed code types, now can be read with the DataMan 100 vision-based ID readers from Cognex Corp. (Natick, MA) thanks to its new 3.2 software release.

“Many manufacturers continue to use a traditional 1D barcode label for product ID, but have added a direct-marked 2D code to store the serial number, batch number, and date and lot code, “ says Carl Gerst, Cognex ID reader business unit manager. “They want to read both codes simultaneously for tracking and tracing products through their manufacturing process, and our new multicode feature is perfect for them. Others want to read codes on multiple products that appear in the same field of view due to their small size, such as medical vials in a tray. DataMan 100 can now read all of them at once.”

Release 3.2 also provides improved performance on all DataMan models for QR codes having perspective distortion, especially with high-contrast labels, and includes support for VeriCode to customers who purchase a license key from Veritec Inc.
