Every year, on the eve of its annual Technology Days, Arburg (Lossburg, Germany) recognizes one of its customers with an award for outstanding performance in the area of production and energy efficiency. This year, the Arburg Efficiency Award was presented to ARaymond, the France-based global market leader in clip fastenings for the automotive industry. The presentation ceremony took place during a celebration dinner at the Arburg headquarters high in the hills of Germany's Black Forest on March 10.

ARaymond is a family-run company that is currently under the management of the fifth generation. It has been developing, producing and selling fastening and assembly systems for a variety of applications since its establishment in Grenoble, France, in 1865. Its products are found in, for example, the interior and exterior trim, drive systems and fluid handling devices of millions of cars worldwide. The company has a longstanding business relationship that goes back 50 years, said Dominique Roullet-Revol, Chief Operations Officer at ARaymond, who accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Michael Hehl (in blue) of Arburg congratulates Dominique Roullet-Revol of ARaymond, the recipient of this year's Arburg Efficiency Award.

"These two family-owned companies, leaders in their markets, do consider innovation and international deployment as pillars for sustainable growth," he said. "You can see that the similarities between these companies do not stop with the two first letters of their company names."

However: "Environment and energy efficiency have been at the very heart of our concerns for more than 10 years," he emphasized.

At its plants around the world, ARaymond has installed some 250 Allrounders, as well as a freeformer for additive manufacturing. To boost the energy efficiency during production, ARaymond has opted mainly for hybrid and electric Allrounders. "Electric or hybrid presses have been a real technology revolution in the plastic injection world," said Roullet-Revol.

"We have enjoyed a very fruitful partnership with ARaymond over a number of decades and decided to bestow the award to the company based on its many activities around the globe. Since 2011, internal environmental guidelines have been in force at the company for all of its 37 affiliates," explained Helmut Heinson, Arburg Managing Director, Sales, during his presentation speech.

For Antoine Raymond, CEO of the ARaymond network and great-great-grandson of the company founder, this is a further incentive: "The Arburg Energy Efficiency Award 2015 represents important and encouraging recognition of the implementation of our global energy efficiency targets."
