Consolidated Container Co. to acquire Roffe Container

Consolidated Container Co. (CCC) plans to buy the assets of plastic container manufacturer Roffe Container for an undisclosed sum.

Located in Moorhead, MN, Roffe Container is an extrusion blowmolding company that provides containers to the dairy, water, juice, honey and industrial markets in the Midwest.

CCC plans to sign a separate lease for a manufacturing site and will begin the installation and build-out of a multi-line production plant in Lakeville, MN, just outside of Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

CCC spokesman Richard Sehring told PlasticsToday this acquisition allows CCC to expand in new geographical areas. The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks, and CCC plans to complete the initial build-out of the Lakeville facility by mid-2013.

"One of CCC's unique competitive advantages is our nationwide manufacturing platform, and this acquisition expands that network into one of the few geographic areas where we do not have a presence," said Jeffrey Greene, president and CEO of CCC. "The addition of the Moorhead facility and the opening of a greenfield in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area enhance CCC's ability to serve key regional and national customers in the dairy and industrial markets in the Upper Great Lakes and Northern Great Plains regions."

CCC is a manufacturer of blowmolded packaging products for the dairy, water, beverage, food, household chemical, automotive, and industrial chemical markets. The Atlanta-based company has 59 manufacturing facilities and 2100 employees.

Tom Janas, owner and president of Roffe Container, stated, "The timing of this transaction and CCC's commitment to growing in the region aligned perfectly with our objectives. This is an exciting outcome for the employees and customers of Roffe Container."

This past May, CCC announced it was acquired by affiliates of Bain Capital Partners, a global private investment firm.

Terms of the definitive agreement to purchase the privately held business from Vestar Capital Partners and its other investors were not disclosed.

"We are very excited to be partnering with CCC and its management team to support the company in its future growth," said Seth Meisel, managing director at Bain Capital, at the time. "We are impressed by the success CCC has demonstrated in offering solutions that deliver a high level of customer satisfaction, its industry-leading design and R&D capabilities, and its well-run manufacturing network."
