Any thermoplastic used in a marine application has to face some pretty severe UV exposure, as well as cleaners and solvents. For a recent application for a floor-based hatch on the deck of a boat, The Plastics Group of America compounded a existing calcium-carbonate-filled polypropylene (Polifil C-40) with a special UV stabilizer. The compound also met stiffness requirements by offering tensile strength of 3400 psi and a flexural modulus of 320,000 psi.
