A new version of Type3 CAD/CAM communication software has been released with enhancements that enable the user to create logos and graphics more quickly. The SculptArt function allows for manipulation of a shape?s surface similar to working in clay; the mouse acts like a hand to pull and push the shape. Toolpath generation has been enhanced to include quicker algorithm calculations, and a Ridge function automatically converts a single line drawing into a closed contour, which reportedly results in faster and sharper creation of letters and shapes. Users can choose relief or recess engraving and 2-D or 3-D cutting mode. Type3 costs between $7000 and $12,000.
