Names in the News, Feb. 2-6

Extrusion equipment supplier Gloucester Engineering Co. Inc. (Gloucester, MA) has named Alan Thompson as its VP of operations to handle purchasing, expediting, and material control. A Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Six Sigma Black Belt, and graduate of M.I.T’s Supply Chain Management Executive Program, Thompson’s previous experience includes purchasing and supply chain positions with Helix Technology, Brooks Automation, Brown & Sharpe, Barry Controls, and Tyco Electronics.

Wittmann Battenfeld has promoted Matt McCabe to VP of Sales after 10 years with the company in various capacities, most recently as U.S.national sales manager and as west coast regional manager prior to that. Before joining then Wittmann, McCabe’s experience included time on the processor side in the automotive plastics and medical device industries.

Wittmann Battenfeld also promoted David Purcell to sales manager for its Injection Molding Machine Division,including the management of the IMM Parts & Technology Center in South Elgin, IL. Purcell’s Battenfeld career began in 2003 as a regional sales manager for the upper mid west. After leaving the company for a brief time, Purcell returned in August 2008 following its acquisition by Wittmann.
