New edition of ISO 9001 standard available

Replacing the year 2000 version currently implemented in 170 countries worldwide, The American Society for Quality (ASQ, Milwaukee, WI; www.asq.org) is now offering the latest version of the quality management systems standards in ISO 9001:2008. The new version is an amendment with no new or deleted requirements, but is said to offer improved compatibility with ISO 14001, better consistency within the ISO 900 family, and improved translation.

New edition of ISO 9001 standard available

) is now offering the latest version of the quality management systems standards in ISO 9001:2008. The new version is an amendment with no new or deleted requirements, but is said to offer improved compatibility with ISO 14001, better consistency within the ISO 900 family, and improved translation. Companies will have 24 months to transition to ISO 9001:2008, and are encouraged to use the transition period to review quality management systems and identify key requirements. The new standard is available for ASQ members at a cost of $76, and $95 for nonmembers, via www.asq.org/iso9001 or by calling (800) 248-1946.
