; Washington DC). PMMI, which organizes the Pack Expo trade shows, will occupy a North Lobby booth (NL200), acknowledging the interdependence of plastics and packaging, with SPI estimating that 34% of all resin sold in the U.S. is destined for packaging. Kate Achelpohl, PMMI director, member communications, told MPW the choice to spend June 22-26 at McCormick Place in Chicago was an easy one.

“Exhibiting was a logical decision for us,” Achelpohl said. “Since [PMMI] began admitting materials suppliers as members in 2007, the level of importance of the category has grown for the Pack Expo shows as well as PMMI.” Achelpohl said one of the most popular areas on the Pack Expo floor is the Brand Zone, formerly called the Materials & Containers Pavilion, which spotlights packaging technologies and materials that increase visual impact, enhance convenience, maximize shelf life, and expand functionality.

In a release, Matt Croson, VP member services/communications for PMMI, said, “Our presence at NPE provides PMMI with another opportunity to let end users know about the technologies that will be on display at Pack Expo.”

PMMI, which has more than 540 North American member companies that manufacture packaging and packaging-related converting machinery, organizes three Pack Expo events: Pack Expo International in Chicago, Pack Expo Las Vegas, and Expo Pack México. The next Pack Expo International will take place from Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2010 at McCormick Place, with the exposition historically drawing 2000 exhibitors and covering more than 1.2 million ft2.
