PET strapping benefits from vacuum technology

The Erema Vacurema Basic 1308TE by Erema Engineering Recycling GmbH (Austria) has been optimized for production of polyester (PET) strapping from post-consumer bottle flake. Erema says the melt produced with this arrangement has virtually no intrinsic viscosity (IV) loss. Connected to the unit, which was premiered at a symposium late last year, was a Tight Strap 300 stretching plant manufactured by Erema’s Italian partner in this venture, Techno Plastic.

The Erema Vacurema Basic 1308TE by Erema Engineering Recycling GmbH (Austria) has been optimized for production of polyester (PET) strapping from post-consumer bottle flake. Connected to the unit, which was premiered at a symposium late last year, was a Tight Strap 300 stretching plant manufactured by Erema’s Italian partner in this venture, Techno Plastic.

The modified Vacurema Inline unit offers savings for production of bottle scrap-to-PET strapping.PET strapping equipment is nothing new, but both manufacturers say this particular arrangement offers the processor the possibility of reducing costs related to input material as well as efficient energy use (said to be 0.65 kWhhttps://www.plasticstoday.com/kg) compared to conventional systems. The companies claim processors should be able to achieve overall average savings of about €520,000https://www.plasticstoday.com/yr which correlates to about €2.6 million over a five-year depreciation time vs. typical strapping systems.

Erema’s Vacurema technology, which was developed originally for bottle-to-bottle recycling, can also be implemented for bottle scrap-to-strapping. PET strapping is finding substantial interest as an alternative to more expensive, and in some cases more dangerous, metal bands used to secure goods during transport and storage. PET strapping demand is said to be growing at a rate of 15%https://www.plasticstoday.com/yr worldwide.Erema is exhibiting at the Chinaplas 2009 trade show, May 18-21,  stand 11.1https://www.plasticstoday.com/C57.[email protected]
